Hey, guys! I’ve published quite a few posts recently that tackled serious issues and emotions. So, I thought that it might be nice this week to have a short, light-hearted post answering some of the awards that I’ve been nominated for so you guys can get to know me a little better 😊 I’m going to answer two awards which are both five questions each. To everyone else who has nominated me for a blogger award, I promise to get to them eventually!

I would like to thank Nabeeha Jameel for nominating me for the BrainStorms Award. I had a lot of fun answering these questions! You can visit Nabeeha’s blog here: https://brainsstorms.wordpress.com/
BrainStorms Award Rules
- Thank the person who nominated you and provide a link back to their blog
- Tag your post with #BrainStormsAward and follow BrainStorms if you are willing!
- List the rules and display the BrainStorms Award logo
- Talk a bit about your blog, why you started it, what you write about, and your goal for your blog
- Answer the five questions you have been asked
- Nominate five other amazing bloggers
- Ask them five new questions
Nabeeha Jameel’s Questions
1. What is your favourite hobby?
This is hard because I have so many! It sounds weird, but right now I think that my favourite hobby is learning languages. I have five that I’m currently working on. One of my favourite parts of my day is reading a short story in Spanish, watching a Dutch show, speaking conversations in German, or practising my French. It’s still fun to practise the ones that I’m already fluent in because it helps me to remember them.
2. If you could change one thing about WordPress, what would it be?
I wish I could receive notifications when someone replies to my comment on another person’s post. If a blog owner is not the kind of person who likes a comment after reading it and replying, I have to store the post in a waiting folder and keep checking it every few days until the reply arrives. And signing up to receive a notification for every comment means that my inbox gets spammed with comments. I don’t understand why we get email notifications for likes on comments and not replies.
3. Describe yourself in three words.
Creative, hard-working, and easily-excitable (I know. The last two are kind of cheating).
4. Despite all the positive and negative this year, what has been the most memorable moment for you?
The most memorable moment for me was probably feeding alpacas at an alpaca rescue farm for my birthday. I never knew they could be such beautiful and kind creatures. It was horrible hearing about how their previous owners had mistreated them. I also didn’t know alpacas were such a common pet in the Netherlands.
5. If you could learn something new, what would it be?
Sign language. Unfortunately, I’ll never be able to. You can sign one-handed but you at least need some functioning fingers to do so which I don’t have.
My Nominees
If I nominated you but you feel too busy to accept the nomination or just don’t want to – no pressure! Only do it if you feel like it 😊

- Who is the first person that you turn to for comfort and advice?
- What is a film that you saw recently that you were disappointed by?
- What is your favourite weekend treat (it can be a food or activity)?

I would like to thank Hamish of Hard Lines, Heavy Times, and Handblocks for nominating me for the Ideal Inspiration Blogger Award. You can visit Hamish’s blog here: https://hardlinesheavytimes.wordpress.com/
Rules for the Award
- Thank the person who has nominated you and provide a link back to their blog.
- Answer their questions.
- Nominate up to 9 other bloggers and ask them 5 new questions.
- Notify the nominees through their blog by visiting and commenting on their blog.
- List the rules and display the “Ideal Inspiration Blogger Award” logo.
Hamish’s Questions
1. What is the best thing you like about blogging?
Being able to reach more and more people with my message of equality. It feels like I’m making a difference despite being in lockdown and spending pretty much all day in my superhero poster-covered room. I also adore every kind soul that comments and I feel as if I have met some truly incredible people and close friends through my blog who I now can’t imagine letting go.
2. If there was a film about your life, what would its title be?
Wheelchairs and glitter ✨😊✨
3. How do you decide what to blog about?
I have a blog workbook that I work from. I usually like to do a loop through my seven categories by organising my next seven posts ahead of time to each come from a different category. I also try to keep a balance between positive and negative posts as well as educational and personal posts. Wheelchair Blues and Getting Turned Away was a post that mostly inspired anger in its reader’s minds and the next post I posted, I Used to be Ashamed of my Disability. Not Anymore. was much more positive and inspired encouragement. My last post was educational so this one is more personal since I’m answering questions about myself.
4. Who or what are some of your sources of inspiration?
Books, films, TV-shows, and my family. My family is full of strong, black women who shine so brightly in this world and have shown me that I truly can be anything if I put my mind to it. If you think I’m strong, you should meet my mother and sisters!
5. What is one aspiration you hope to achieve by the end of 2021?
To find a way to turn my passion for raising awareness about disabilities into a career.
My Questions
- What type of music do you like?
- What would you like to see happen to your blog in the next year?
- What are your favourite and least favourite aspects of social media?
- Which film/book/TV-show has impacted your life the most and how?
- Superheroes? Yes or no?
My Nominees

FIVE LANGUAGES?!?
“Wheelchairs and glitter”
I love it! It makes me think of a musical with wheelchair dancing numbers 😃.
The blog workbook thing sounds great! It’s a different type of organisation than the one I keep, but I love that you’re a scheduler like me 😁. I usually feel alone when it comes to that LOL. Also, it’s a very thoughtful way to plan your posts.
“5. What is one aspiration you hope to achieve by the end of 2021?
To find a way to turn my passion for raising awareness about disabilities into a career.”
I hope you will! Keep looking and building towards that 💜.

😊 Yes! Although, I kind of feel like it’s cheating to have both Dutch and German a part of the five since they’re sister languages and really quite similar at the basics. That’s why I was able to pick up German really easily. XD I LOVE that! Now I really want to see a musical with a bunch of wheelchairs twirling around on the stage. You’re definitely not alone, I feel like I’d freak out if I didn’t have at least the next month of posts planned out. It takes me a LONG time to prepare a post so I’d hate to start one and then have to scrap it because I just wasn’t feeling it or it didn’t seem like the time was right. I’ll definitely keep building towards it – this weekend I have a bunch of different emails I’m planning to send to different possible raising awareness opportunities.

I can’t imagine you are learning 5 languages!!! Like Wow. It sounds so cool. But I bet it must be tiring too.
And ‘wheel chair and glitter’. What a name! I am telling you its a superhit already.
Keep shining.

I’m glad that you enjoyed my answers! Thank you, I feel very grateful to have been nominated. Sometimes learning languages can be a little tiring but I usually try to think of different ways to keep it interesting. For instance, watching shows/films and reading books in different languages is a very effective way of practising and also really fun. So is going on walks and naming all of the animals I see on my walk in the languages I know or all of the food on my plate at dinner. I come from an International School and we had tests and exams in English, Spanish, and Dutch. I HATED learning languages at school, it’s much more fun when I do it at home by choice. XD I wish ‘Wheelchairs and Glitter’ was a real thing 😂 Thank you so much for this kind comment 💕

Congrats! And wow, 5 languages!! I’m learning Korean and I know how much fun it is to learn a new language.
Btw, I couldn’t understand when you said we don’t get notifications when someone replies to our comment on someone else’s blog? Were you talking about email notifications? Because we get the replies in the notification panel on WordPress.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Thanks! Ooo, Korean is really cool! I hope that you’re enjoying it 😊 Yes, I was talking about email notifications since I mostly navigate WordPress through my email. I actually didn’t know about all of the benefits of using the notification panel, I really should use it more. Thanks for telling me about it – it will probably save me a lot of time and effort!

Congratulations! The awards are well deserved and it is fun to get to know you better! My admiration went up considerably when I learned that you enjoy languages so much! And I love that you are keeping it fun…wheelchairs and glitter,..beautiful! I used to be a very organized person…keeping notebooks for this and that. Somehow all that has gone out the window, and I could benefit from bringing some of that organization back.
Thank you for nominating me for an award! You took me by surprise! 🙂

Thank you, I’m glad that you thought this was a fun post! Yes, I just think that learning languages is a great thing to do that brings us all closer together. Different types of organization works for different people. I like schedules but some of my friends are much more spontaneous. If you think being more organized would help you though – then go for it! I like it because I’m usually prepared ahead of time because of it. You’re welcome, you definitely deserve it! 😊

Exactly, learning new cultures and languages can be a really fun thing to do. Thank you! 😊 Yes, they are the animals that spit but they tend to only do it when they feel threatened. Apparently people with large back gardens in the Netherlands sometimes opt to have one or two alpacas as a pet. I was surprised to find it out as well. I’m glad that you liked the title for my biography! Have an incredible weekend ❤

Ms Wheelchair teen: Congrats on the nominations! Your answer to #5 on learning something new sparked a need to let you know…your communication skills, kindness and humanity go well beyond actually ‘signing’. People understand – and are touched by your presence.
Thank you also for nominating me for the Brainstorms award…I looked into it and discovered it’s a ‘new’ award. Kind of fun to be in at the beginning! It might be awhile till I get to it…but I know you understand that.
Take care.

Thanks for the congratulations! That means a lot, thank you for these kind words about my communication skills. The languages that I speak may not be able to be understood by everybody that I meet, but it’s an honour to know that they are still touched merely by my presence. You’re welcome! You definitely deserved it. I completely understand that it may take you a while to get it – just take your time. I actually was nominated for the second award almost a year ago now! I think its amazing that you are learning so many different languages at once and are so determined to keep working at each and every one every single day! I know you enjoyed the alpacas but I was surprised it was the highlight of your year so far. I think you can change your wordpress settings to get email notifications for comments and not likes?

I’m glad you think so, sometimes I wonder why I’m so determined to because I’m not the biggest fan of travel – then I remember that thirty percent of the shows that I watch are in other languages XD. Yeah, I actually really, really loved the alpacas and wouldn’t mind going again. They were definitely the best part of the four-day trip and I told all of my friends about them. I’ll check out that WordPress setting – that would really help me if I can find it. Thanks for pointing it out.

Hi, Lisa. I feel honoured that you missed me – I missed you too. I’ll explain further later but I found out that a lot of my old posts weren’t very accessible to certain disabled users and I thought it was very important to spend some time changing and updating all of them to be as accessible as possible before I posted anything new. As a disability blogger myself – I took changing my site to make it accessible as possible very seriously. All is well though and I’m finally finished with all of the changes! Thank you so much for congratulating me on the awards! I can’t wait to get back to reading your amazing, thought provoking posts ❤
