  1. I just loved you post on lifesfinewhine! I was trying to follow you here but it won’t let me put in an email. I clicked the box below here, maybe that will do it. Anyway, I’ll try again tomorrow to follow you. I think you have a great writing style with great subject matter. Keep up the good work!!

  2. I read your guest post just a few minutes ago. You’re doing an amazing job of speaking out loud! Don’t ever stop, the world needs to hear your story too. What I loved the most is your idea of creating cartoon characters you can relate to, now that is genius!

All the best on your blogging journey.

    1. Thank you! I have had a lot of fun creating my disabled superhero team and hope that something can become of the comic in the future. I really appreciate your encouragements, I’m not the bravest person in real life, so I especially love when someone tells me that they like my work because it gives me the strength I need to carry on speaking out.

  3. I find people feel they can approach me more if I m wearing something unusual or if my hair is different, because they see that as the talking point. But it gets complex. If you do express yourself positively it can be double-edged. Some wheelchair-users feel that when they dress well , or in a way that challenges stereotypes, it can make people think they re not disabled.

    1. Yeah, I like wearing colourful hair a lot. Not so that people can approach me more, but because I actually like multi-coloured hair. People feeling more comfortable when they approach me is a nice side-effect though. I think the best course of action is to go with what makes you comfortable – if I didn’t feel comfortable wearing unusual clothes, I wouldn’t do it for other people’s benefit. Thank you for commenting!

  4. Hello from southern California! I found your blog as I was researching resources for an assignment for a course I’m taking at university: Girlhood and Adolescence. The personal nature of your topics, your reflections on your past and current self, and your willingness to share what you’ve learned and what you want able-bodied folks to know were exactly what I was looking for! Thank you for continuing to share your whole self with the world. I hope you and your family are faring well during this continued and exhausting health crisis. Keep blogging on!

    1. Thank you so much for your message. I’m sorry it has taken me so long to respond, I took a hiatus from my blog and all related social media for a few months while I was struggling with depression but I’m doing better now and am planning on bringing it back this Sunday. I’m so happy that my blog was able to help with your assignment! In a way, The Wheelchair Teen is sort of a different persona for me, one that is much more confident and able to talk about things that I might be too shy to or might struggle to find the words for in real life. I’m glad that that new-found confidence is paying off. Thank you for wishing me and my family well, I’ve already passed on the message. xxx

    1. So glad you’ve resumed posting. Your efforts to make your blog more accessible are admirable, and I hope you’ll inform us when you hear from new readers who can now log in.

I’m appalled, though, to hear that you can’t find a psychologist to help you. You shouldn’t have to struggle with life’s travails without competent professional help. Have you contacted the psychologists’ licensing board to tell them about your experiences?

At least you seem to be delving into new projects and learning new skills. I look forward to hearing more about your public speaking appearances. And the new electric wheelchair sounds great. There’s no stopping you now!

      All good wishes,
      Annie

      1. Thank you 😊 For me, accessibility isn’t a favour, Disabled people all have a right to live in a world that is as accessible as possible for them so it definitely felt important for me to do. No, I never considered contacting the psychologist’s licensing board but that’s a pretty great idea. In general, the system needs to drastically change. Indeed! Titania is basically freedom on wheels.

    1. I enjoy meeting new people too! And I really like your blog. There’s also a long blue button with the WordPress logo on it underneath the part where you fill in the email. If you already have a WordPress account, all you need to do is click the button and you should be subscribed. 🙂

  5. Hello,
I hope you’re in good spirits!
I’m trying to give my readers a diverse range of bloggers, which they might not be able to discover by themselves. This is mostly to provide my readers and myself exposure to new blogs so that we can discover, learn and make an informed decision based on the blog post whether that blogger aligns with our interest or not.
Thank you for being a part of this interview.
    here are the questions
1.What do you look like? Funny faces only!
2.what is your blog about? (Include name and country)
3.What according to you is your most successful post? Why?
4.One of the most important things you’d want your readers to know about you?
5.One blog idea that is ridiculously hilarious but you’d want to conceptualize someday?
6.Who are your three favorite bloggers? why?
    warm regards,

  6. Thanks for showing interest in my activity as a blogger. I would be honoured to follow your blog. I’m interested in nature and nature photography but there are also other topics on my blog.
    Kind regards,

    1. Hello, Rudi. I followed your blog and I am excited to read more because I like nature and photography and it looks like you write in Dutch. I live in the Netherlands and used to be fluent in Dutch so it would be great for me to practise it by reading more posts that aren’t written in English. Since the lockdown, I haven’t been speaking to people as much so my language is slipping.

I promise to keep up the good work – taking more breaks and recreation is something that I need to work harder on so thank you for reminding me of it. Have a lovely day! 💕

  7. It’s sad that people assume disabled people are incomplete and need healing. I feel it’s absolutely necessary to respect their space and not force yourself on trying to fix things for them.
Despite the progress we are making, we still never seem to let go of our social, racial or color discrimination we hold against people. I wish we look at mankind as one and humanity as the only religion. The world definitely would be a better place to live in

    1. [Did you mean this comment for my post Please Don’t Assume I Need Healing?] I agree, it is sad that people sometimes assume that about us. I appreciate that you think that our space should be respected and things shouldn’t be forced on us – that means a lot. True, some people still aren’t able to let go of discrimination which is a big shame. We are all different yet the same – it’s what binds us. Thank you so much for showing me your support and sharing your thoughts with me. Have a fantastic day! ❤❤❤
